I don't see how Microsoft could believe that these things are all related to one another. Internet Explorer to do with what it will. It appears as though File Explorer is trying to navigate to, thenĮxecute via the path whatever's typed in, and failing that sending it to The setting I mentioned just appears to prevent Internet Explorer from taking it a step further and searching for a mistyped folder name that's not a proper website address. (with a "This page can't be displayed" error), so clearly the "don't search in Address Bar" setting isn't fixing the entire problem described in the original post. If I am in any other folder Internet Explorer pops open and tries to open web site ProgramData causes it to navigate to C:\ProgramData. When File Explorer is currently navigated to the root folder of drive C: typing A CMD window opens briefly then goes away. When I type Hello World into the address bar it appears to try to execute Hello.exe from within my Gnu toolkit (because it's in my path). Is that any different than if you type c:\ProgramData? What happens if you type Hello World into your File Explorer address bar, Noel?
